Adaptive Reuse
Historic Preservation
Adaptive Reuse projects with developers, AOR, leasing departments, and city councils in large-scale buildings to rehabilitate new life and communities. Tasks include existing site survey documentation and assessments, square footage take-offs, and tenant feasibility unitization.
Historic Preservation projects in commercial and residential sites to maintain existing material and site integrity, document for Historic Board reviews and approvals, and design for new programs or renovations.
Bok Building
An adaptive reuse project repurposing the former classrooms of a historic school into space for makers, nonprofits, small businesses, and artists. Scout, led by Lindsey Scannapieco, operates and maintains building ops and leasing management.
While at Scout, I measured on site existing conditions for tenant turnovers, created new existing conditions as-built documentation, and provided layout designs for new potential tenants.

50 Sims
Once the Textile Finishing Machinery Company, 50 Sims is a 113,000 sq ft historic manufacturing facility that is being thoughtfully transformed into a space for work and play along a community-centric corridor in Providence.
I solely measured, documented, and produced existing conditions and provided existing condition assessments. I created all base plans for the existing building to use for leasing departments and to provide for the local AOR. I also provided subdivision of floor plan by drawing new proposed partitions, meeting developer’s square footage needs, designed new unitization layouts, and any proposed building alterations to meet new zoning code.

Cranston Street Armory
“In 2020, the State of Rhode Island issued an RFP for a developer to restore and activate an architectural and historic landmark in the West End neighborhood. The RFP requested proposals to both consider the building’s impressive architectural and social history, while providing economic and community development within and around the building itself. Scout was awarded the RFP in 2021.” - Scout
I contributed and led the local design charette with RISD, local architects, planners, and the municipality. Our team produced on-site surveys and proposed community activation, presenting to city stakeholders.

Eastern State Penitentiary
National Historic Landmark Building, Eastern State Penitentiary is one of the most historic prisons in the United States. Opened in 1829 as a new model for rehabilitating criminals through solitary confinement, the prison closed permanently in 1971. Much of the site remains operating as a museum.
Dames Design worked as the Engineer of Record for site prep and maintenance for the Halloween exhibition, Halloween Nights. My role was to perform on-site safety walk throughs and produce existing condition assessments to preservationists. This included checking for hazards, clearances, or operational issues by traversing through and drawing in AutoCAD existing conditions with official building floor plan.

Elfreth’s Alley
America’s oldest continuously inhabited streets, the rowhomes were built between early 1700s through to the mid 1800s. While most of the alley today is open as a museum, a few homes are still currently privately owned and lived in.
I worked on an interior renovation for a private homeowner providing floor plan layouts and interior elevations in AutoCAD. I gathered and prepared all historical data and documentation to present to Historic Board review for design approvals.
